South Africa, one of the leading scrap exporters observed fall in its ferrous scrap exports in Aug’18 on monthly basis against exports recorded in Jul’18. As per recent customs data, the country exported 39,370 MT ferrous scrap in Aug’18, down 12% M-o-M as against exports recorded at 44,947 MT ferrous scrap in Jul’18.

Billet Imports in Turkey plunged by around 15% M-o-M in Aug’18 & recorded four-months low, as per the recent released data by Turkey's custom showed.

SteelMint learned in recent conversations with market participants that imported scrap offers to Bangladesh have remained almost stable however, with sluggish demand persists for finish steel in domestic market, the scrap requirement from buyers hasn’t picked up yet and market has been observing limited interest among importers at the moment.

As per SteelMint assessment, domestic rebar prices in Bangladesh have slightly fallen on weekly basis. Slight price corrections were made by medium scale mills by BDT 500-700/MT (USD 6-8.5) amid limited trade volumes.
